Communication is Beautiful!

“Speech is the mirror of the soul; as a man speaks, so he is.” –Publilius Syrus

Preface November 13, 2006

The study of Pediatric Dysphagia and swallowing disorders is one of the most rapidly growing areas in medical care for health care professionals, especially physicians and speech-language pathologists today.  There is also an increasing number of high-risk, “Failure to Thrive” infants along with pediatric under nutrition cases today.  Those who are able to survive need constant help and dedication from physicians, occupational therapists, nutritionists, physical therapists, nurses, and speech-language pathologists.  The downfall to the correlation of speech-language pathologists and pediatric dysphagia clients is the small amount of understanding about this disorder.

I decided to complete my CD 315 Multi-Genre Project on Pediatric Dysphagia as it is one I am very interested in, but mainly, know the least about.  I would also like my classmates and others interested in Speech-Pathology to view my project and understand it so they will be able to enjoy it as I do.  I hope I am able to do this effectively.
