Genre 7 – Powerpoint Presentation November 14, 2006

This is my powerpoint presentation on the therapy goals for Pediatric Dysphgia.

This isn’t working for my site very well… click on this link and then click on the blue underlined “Pediatric Dysphagia.ppt.”

  1. This genre is written in the voice of a clinician to anyone interested in learning about pediatric dysphasia. This powerpoint includes primary therapy goals for pediatric dysphasia and different strategies for treating the disorder. I would like to “bless” this genre because it is very appealing to the eye, and I think it would catch anybody’s attention! You included nice pictures, and I like the idea of using a powerpoint presentation to introduce therapy goals -very different from lesson plans. I believe it may be easier for a person who doesn’t know much about therapy to understand these goals in a powerpoint rather than a lesson plan; however, they can both be effective. Good idea though! I think that you could address some of the terms you used and explain them further. For example, in the 5th slide you listed:
    * Establishing best possible Infant State/Feeding Willingness
    * Readying the Infant for Oral Feeding/Preparing the Environment
    * Establishing Optimal Position for Feeding
I would probably address what you mean in each of these bulleted points. How would you establish best possible infant state or feeding environment? How would you prepare the environment? (just some examples)

The presentation is written by the clinician for anyone one interested in learning about what the goals of speech and langage therapy are. The author is explaining the primary goals of therapy and who this therapy can be divided further still into strategies. I would like to bless the fact that the presentation is simplistic enough to explain the main purposeand without overwhelming the reader. I want to address some of the goals for compensatory strategies. I feel that the slide that discusses these could be explained in further detail. I felt somewhat confused when I got to the “Infant State/Feeding Willingness” and “Oral Feeding/Preparing.”
